Hulburd has HEART

Initiated and led by Susan Collins, Hulburd Design teamed up with the law firm of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein and the Carver “HEARTS” [Carver Healthy Environments and Response to Trauma in Schools] project to provide pro-bono design services.

The project involved the interior renovation of a modular classroom at the George Washington Carver Elementary School in the Bayview/Hunters Point Neighborhood to create a therapist’s office and classroom to serve children who have been exposed to trauma and violence. Using subtle colors and low VOC materials and furniture, we created a clean, pleasant space for the children. HD also rolled up their sleeves, painted the entire space and laid all of the carpet tile! Images to come shortly.
